Motivation

Today’s devotional theme is Motivation.  I pray you'll take a moment and secure in your spirit what is your vision for these 21 days.  Do you have a clear picture in your mind?   Is that victorious sight compelling?  Is it for God's glory?  Is it way beyond the goal of "just trying to make it through?"  21 days is a long time.  We'll need every tool in our arsenal.  This motivation can help us take "every thought and make it obedient to Christ."  This motivation can usher peaceful resolve.  Here are some useful action steps:

  1. What marks am I pressing toward during this fast?  (This is where you can specify any goals you want to work towards.  These can be goals about spiritual disciplines, relationships, finances, health, self-care, ministry projects, etc.  Try to keep the goals small and able to be reached within your fasting duration). I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. - Phil 3:14

  2. How is my mind being renewed?  (Here, you can share about what work you’re doing to bring Truth into your life.  Examples:  “Reading the book Fearless.”  “Using my Abide app.”  “Watching Francis Chan videos during work breaks.”) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.- Rom 12:2

  3. What are my motivators?  (This is where you can write out a Bible verse, dream, song, a catchy saying, &/or Word God gave you.)  Examples:  “I bend my knees before I bend my elbow.”  “I keep my fasting first, to make it last.”  “God is doing for me what I can not do for myself.”  “I just do the next "right thing" “Easy does it, but I do it.” Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.- Isa 41:10

  4. What milestones am I celebrating?  (This is where you can express your gratitudes, any accomplishments, and/or breakthroughs.  Examples:  “Was protected from Friday’s near accident.”  “Began singing praises in the shower again.”  “Spent time forgiving Suzy in prayer.”  “Sat with coffee and the sunset Wednesday.”  He is your praise, and He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen. -Deut 10:21
