To What are you connected?

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. John 15:1-2

The Lord has led me to study the book of John chapter 15 the past couple of months. The more I meditate on it, the more I clearly see the importance of remaining connected to the TRUE vine. If the Lord, Jesus is the TRUE vine, then that suggests to me that we can become connected to false vines. As I was thinking on this, the Lord brought to mind what he was trying to show me.

Satan uses false vines to draw us away from the truth, thereby cutting us off from the TRUE vine.

False vines are deceptive. You could be a follower of a false prophet, false teacher or maybe you have dabbled in witchcraft that has left you confused about the truth. I have noticed deadly vines wrapping themselves around trees and plants. It strangles the life out of beautiful oaks and kills off blooming flowers. The strangle hold of the false vine is the same for a believer! Satan uses false vines to draw us away from the truth, thereby cutting us off from the TRUE vine.

The false vine can look different for every person. It could be a toxic relationship; a draw to overeating, alcohol abuse or drug addiction. False vines come in many forms. You are aware of what draws you away. You don’t need anyone to point it out! The Holy Ghost has already been telling you what it is. Am I right?

I challenge you to ask the Lord during this fast to cut away every branch in you that does not bear fruit. Dead branches kill mighty oaks.  Ask him to search you and reveal any false vines that have a strangle hold. Surrender those false vines to the TRUE vine so that you can produce more fruit for the Kingdom!
