REJOICE ALWAYS, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS

My father, who is now with Jesus, was a man of great faith. He’d smash his finger with the hammer and mutter, “Well, Praise the Lord!” One of his favorite books was Merlin Carothers Prison to Praise. What a heritage to rejoice always and in everything give thanks. Scripture is replete with exhortations to give thanks. I was taught to pray thanking God by faith for the very thing/s I was asking him for believing that all things work together for my good and His glory, Romans 8:28.

I Thessalonians 5: 16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Philippians 4:4-7 The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Praise is an offering. It’s a choice. Our prayer and thanksgiving go beyond the good things God has done for us. We offer thanksgiving and praise by faith even for the bad knowing that God works all things together for our good and His glory. Romans 8:28 "The tongue has the power of life and death,” Proverbs 18:21.

Two years ago when I was in Washington I discovered a YouTube video, He is…the Names of God, and was deeply moved.

Over and over again I declared the names of God and spoke His attributes over my circumstances. Here are a few I declare daily:

  • YHWH I am who I am

  • ELOHIM. My Creator.

  • El ELYON God most high

  • JEHOVAH. My Lord God.

  • EL SHADDAI. The Overpowerer (almighty God of heaven)

  • ADONAI. My Master

  • JEHOVAH JIREH. My Provider

  • JEHOVAH ROPHE. My Healer

  • JEHOVAH NISSI. My Banner

  • JEHOVAH MAKADESH. My Sanctifier

  • JEHOVAH TSIDKENDU. MyRighteousness

  • JEHOVAH SHALOM. My Peace

  • EL SHADDAI Almighty God of heaven

  • ADONAI YIRAH God will provide

  • YADA knowledge

  • JEHOVAH-SHAMA, the LORD the indweller (Ezekiel 48:35)

As we fast before the Lord, Let us:

  • thank him for bringing Revival, a move of God in which He pours out His spirit on all flesh to such a degree the lost around us wake up and are drawn to His Goodness

  • thank God for pouring out the Holy Spirit on the Church lighting all of us on fire with a passion for His kingdom

  • thank Him for saving our lost sons and daughters who, by faith, will serve the Kingdom of God with fearless intensity

  • praise God for healing the sick in our church and community

  • praise Him for setting the oppressed free

  • declare His names over our lives and city

We march victoriously under the banner of Jehovah Nissi. We serve El Elyon, God most High. We are his sons and daughters who are seated in heavenly places with Christ, Ephesians 2:6. He has given us the keys to the Kingdom. Let us victoriously enter into a roar of triumph as we praise Him by faith for the great things H e has done and will do.
